Engagement Photography London, Notting Hill | Paula & Terrence

When this American couple got in touch, they told me that they were recently engaged. They were both coming over to London for work for a few weeks, so they were looking to do an engagement session here. They had looked at my previous work and my photography style captured their attention for its natural and relaxed vibe. I was really excited to meet them and capture some great photos that would reflect them well as a couple.

Engagement session in Notting Hill

Paula asked for recommendations on where in London would be a good area to photograph an engagement session. I found this more difficult than expected because of so many options available. London has so much to offer and different areas have very different vibes. We explored a few ideas and eventually settled on Notting Hill. They also stayed in that area in the first few days of their arrival to London, so it was meaningful to them.

The weather forecast for the day was overcast, although the weather finally started to warm up after a very long winter. However, when we met at one end of Portobello Road early that morning, the sun was shining. We set off wandering around the area and exploring the corners of Notting Hill, while vendors were setting up for the market. Paula and Terrence needed very little guidance and were just awesome to work with. They were very easy going and sweet with each other. Within minutes of meeting we were chatting like old friends.

How to always end a session

After we got our fix of pretty colours and the streets of Notting Hill turned increasingly busier, we headed over to Bloomsbury. That’s where Paula and Terrence were staying in a cool little Airbnb. I used to work in that area and couldn’t believe how quiet it was during the weekend. Paula and Terrence asked to have some photos captured at their Airbnb flat as they wanted to remember the details of their London stay. So we ended the session with a bottle of wine in their cute little back garden. A perfect way to end a session if you ask me.

Kind words

I had the best time with these guys. I really felt like I met two strangers but parted with friends after just a couple of hours together. So I was thrilled when I heard back from Paula and learned that they enjoyed themselves as well. After I delivered their images, Paula wrote back: “We’re thrilled with how the photos turned out and we had so much fun doing it! I can’t tell you enough what a pleasure you are to work with.” And these are the kind of words every photographer wants to hear from their clients!
