london wedding photographer,
Capturing Love Worldwide
Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year, so December weddings are close to my heart despite the limited amount of daylight. This Islington Town Hall wedding was the perfect way to wrap up my 2018 season.
The beautiful couple (I will not use their names due to the nature of their work) brought old-style Hollywood glamour and along with their families and friends they put on the most festive and joy-filled wedding day.
A winter wedding isn’t for everyone but if you embrace the season, it can be a beautiful and stylish affair. My main advice would be to hold the ceremony as early in the day as possible to make the most of the daylight.
If you finish the ceremony before it gets dark, the light will be perfect for outdoor group and couple photos. Alternatively, consider doing a first look, where the bride and groom see each other privately before the ceremony.
I loved the subdued festive colours this couple chose for their wedding, from jade green bridesmaids’ dresses to the burgundy and white flowers mixed with foliage. And while I doubt that they chose their venues for their colour schemes, both made for the perfect backdrop in red and green tones.
Even the stunning three-tier naked wedding cake from one of my favourite cake makers Sugar Plum Bakes was decorated in rich reds and creamy white colour.
Timings were perfect for this Islington Town Hall wedding, even if the weather wasn’t. There was plenty of light available in the beautiful Council Chamber at Islington Town Hall, where the ceremony took place.
The ceremony itself was one of the most relaxed and joyful that I have ever witnessed. The couple’s friends added fun speeches and set the tone for what was to come.
By the time the ceremony had finished, it was properly raining outside. This meant that we had to abandon plans for confetti and any outdoor photos. Thankfully the Town Hall marble-lined corridors offer a great alternative and during the daytime, they are filled with light.
After the ceremony everyone travelled over to the Peasant, a cosy pub in the heart of Clerkenwell, to continue the wedding celebrations. The Peasant has a reputation for incredible gastro food and after having been served one of the best meals I have ever had, I can definitely back that up.
Aside from their delicious food, it offers great space for a wedding reception. The downstairs bar and upstairs dining room are both full of character and make for a unique and charming setting.
The wedding celebrations properly kicked off with an open bar and continued with dinner and some fantastic speeches. These had everyone (myself included) in tears from so much laughter. If you can judge a person by the company they keep, these guys are true legends.
This wedding was so much fun to be a part of and I am truly grateful they chose me as their wedding photographer to capture it.
