As much as I love shooting city engagements (like this London engagement or this Paris anniversary session), I’ll always be a country girl at heart.
I grew up in rural Slovenia, surrounded by hills, rivers and a short journey from Julian Alps. Being outdoors in open spaces with beautiful views refreshes and inspires me more than I could express.
So when Nofar and Jonathan got in touch and told me they wanted to do a seaside engagement session somewhere scenic along the English coast, I was all in.
Nofar and Jonathan met in London a few years back, when they both moved into the same house share. They started dating not long after that and got engaged two years later when Jonathan proposed during a holiday in Thailand.
As a multi-cultural couple, Nofar being from Israel and Jonathan from the UK, they wanted to incorporate elements from both cultures into their wedding planning. They had decided to marry in Israel but they wanted to capture some engagement photos in England beforehand.
Seaside engagement session on Jurassic Coast
Jonathan grew up in Dorset, so it was an easy decision to return there to the beautiful Jurassic Coast for their engagement session that would celebrate their love, capture their joy and excitement over their upcoming wedding and feel both natural as well as sophisticated.
We were intent on showcasing the beautiful English countryside and chose two scenic locations near to each other that paired an urban setting with a rural one.
We started in a picturesque village of Corfe Castle, named after a medieval castle ruin that sits above it. Afterwards, we drove to Lulworth Cove, a beautiful spot with coastal views and scenic Jurassic footpaths.
The weather was less than ideal for most of the day – in fact, in true English style, it poured all morning. Luckily the clouds started to part just when we arrived for the photo shoot session and due to bad weather earlier in the day, there were not many people about in what is otherwise a very popular tourist destination.
This gave Nofar and Jonathan the space to relax, to enjoy the scenery and the moment. We were able to capture some stunning engagement photos before we ran out of light.
Just as we finished the session, we were graced with the most spectacular sunset over the Jurassic cliffs. It felt like we were rewarded for not postponing their seaside engagement session.
