Capturing Love Worldwide
On one of the balmiest Spring days, I had the pleasure of being a Dartmouth House wedding photographer for a beautiful, international wedding.
Dartmouth House is an elegant Georgian mansion, tucked away in London’s Mayfair. Its central location is perfect for weddings where the guests are attending from all over the world. Inside it boasts a grand marble staircase and a beautiful private courtyard.
On this warm, sunny day we took full advantage of the courtyard and lingered there for the drinks reception, group photos and Adi and Maria even managed a quick first dance rehearsal while guests were being seated for dinner.
I have said before how much I adore international weddings. There is a special atmosphere when two different cultures meet. If there is a language barrier, gestures and facial expressions are used more freely to aid conversation. I love to observe these and try my best to capture them.
Guests arrived from all over the world and it was very special for the couple to have everyone together for their Dartmouth House wedding. Adi’s family came from the Emirates and India, Maria’s travelled from Russia.
As if this wasn’t international enough, the couple will shortly be relocating to New York City. The wedding cake from Etoile Bakery, with a hand painted silhouette of London and New York, was a clever nod to the upcoming move.
It didn’t take long to observe how close the couple are with their families. Everyone was so joyful and I had to admire the three grandmothers who all flew a long way to be present at the wedding. They all took part in the celebrations fully, with one of them even giving a speech and a toast. It is this kind of stories and connections that give true meaning to a wedding day.
I loved capturing all the warm embraces and smiles as a Dartmouth House wedding photographer. I feel so privileged that I got to meet all these wonderful people. They made me feel not only welcome but like I was a part of the family.
