I am a big fan of minimalist and modern design. Clean lines, subdued colours and empty surfaces all make me relax instantly and they help draw the eyes to well thought of details.
Valentina of The Stars Inside helped me explore how these modern forms of minimalism can be used in wedding styling.
We thought this concept would be especially useful for winter weddings, where a bright and light-filled space with minimal decoration could make the best use of limited natural light.
As a Carousel London wedding photographer, I was so excited to be able to help create this minimalist wedding inspiration.
Carousel Spaces London – A Modern Wedding Venue
Carousel Spaces is a relatively new venue available for weddings. Their spaces are modern and bright and were the perfect setting for a minimalistic wedding.
Split across three buildings (two in Marylebone and one in Seven Dials), it is centrally located and could be a great reception space for any couples getting married at the Marylebone Town Hall.
The Wedding Concept
As a Carousel Spaces wedding photographer, the idea was to create an inspirational set of images for the pared-back, design-led couple who values giving important moments room to breathe.
As winter days are short and daylight scarce, we wanted to show the transition between a ceremony flooded with natural light to a moodier and more dramatic evening reception.
Throughout the settings, we were mindful to keep the same subtle colours and design.
The Wedding Setting Details
A fantastic team of suppliers came together to create a modern and minimalist wedding setting. We used only dried flowers, we muted our colour palette and we played with the contrast of light and shadow.
The sleek, long-sleeved Jesus Peiro dress was perfect for a winter wedding. With beautiful clean lines and a dramatic open back, it is beautiful without being overpowering. A simple, short netted veil and a white fedora gave the look an extra edge.
Our florist Leigh created two different bouquets, using various dried flowers and branches to create interest with texture rather than colour.
Similarly, Caro of Alice&Rosa also kept to the subdued colour scheme with her stunning cake and added darker brush strokes as well as some dried florals for added interest.
