When we started planning their London engagement session, Erin told me that they are not looking to go anywhere too “pretty” and colourful.
The colours they chose for their upcoming wedding are very earthy and subdued and they wanted to keep their photos from the engagement session in line with that.
I love the industrial, hip vibe of Shoreditch. As a Shoreditch couple photographer, I thought it would be the perfect backdrop for their session.
From California to Shoreditch
Erin and Cam are the nicest couple who recently relocated to London from sunny California. While they are planning to wed back home, they opted for an engagement session in London.
This way the photos would cover both their old and their new home. Shoreditch is actually only a short walk from where they are living in the city.
As far as the weather goes, you have to keep an open mind when planning a photography session in London. Beautiful golden evening light is usually the tream but let’s face it, in London is definitely more an exception than the rule. Even in summer, there are no guarantees.
I agreed to meet Erin and Cam just outside the hip Shoreditch Grind and just as they arrived, it started raining. That made us retreat inside the Grind and have a glass of wine before heading on. It ended up being a perfect way to start the session, don’t you think?
Couple Photography in Shoreditch
Thankfully the rain didn’t persist and we were later able to walk around Shoreditch as planned. Erin and Cam were so lovely and relaxed – the wine might have helped but I have a feeling these two are always like that.
We made the most of the quirky and industrial looking streets while avoiding the very colourful graffiti. The rain returned just as we were finishing and I think the weather was just perfect for their session.
After all, they are likely going to have all the sunshine at their Californian wedding next year.
