It was such a joy to photograph this Core Clapton wedding. Kelly and George are high school sweethearts and this summer they finally tied the knot after dating for 13 years.
They wanted their wedding day to feel like one big celebration at home with all their families and friends. Above all, they wanted the atmosphere to be relaxed and fun.
Fitting all their loved ones into their flat would be impractical if not downright impossible, so they searched for a suitable venue in their local area.
Core Clapton, which is conveniently located only a short walk away from their home, ticked all the boxes. They were one of the first couples that married at the venue.
Wedding Decor at Core Clapton
To make the Core Clapton wedding venue feel cosy and homely, the couple hired Persian rugs, comfy sofas and vintage tables from Anthology Vintage Hire.
Apart from this, most of their wedding decor was a joint family project. George made all the concrete candle holders and the couple collected all the vases from auctions, charity shops and family shelves.
In the meanwhile, George’s father grew all the flowers that were used for the wedding – and there were many! One of Kelly’s friends constructed the ceremony flower arch and Kelly’s mum dried all the flower petals that were used as confetti. Family members on both sides baked deserts for their desert table.
Kelly chose a dress from a London designer Renli Su. She knew she wanted a casual dress that she could dance in and she fell in love with it as soon as she tried it on.
A friend gifted her with sparkly, personalised Vans, which had their wedding date embroidered at the back, so she wore these for a walk across to the venue.
For her wedding shoes, she looked to one of her favourite designers, Simone Rocha, for the amazing embroidered red platforms.
George wanted a suit that didn’t feel like something he would wear to work but instead something more fun and unusual. He settled on a check suit from Joseph.
Aside from good food and wine, one of the important considerations for the couple was the choice of music for the party. Both big fans of brass bands, they knew they wanted to hire one for their wedding and they did an extensive search to find a good match.
They eventually hired No Limit Street Band and I can say that these guys (and lady) sure knew how to get the dancing going.
Kelly and George’s wedding day at Core Clapton ended up being just as they hoped for, relaxed, fun and truly personal to them.
