Tinashe from AfroBoho Bride has a wonderful vision of creating visual inspiration for the modern African bride. The bride who is proud of her heritage but also embraces a less traditional and more bohemian style. There is no denying that there is a lack of diversity in majority of popular wedding blogs. It makes me rather sad as I have always found cultural and ethical variety such an inspiration.
Which is why I was thrilled when Tinashe asked me to capture her first styled set up. Believe it or not, it absolutely poured the entire day when we were due to shoot this. I didn’t think we’ll be able to pull it off but Tinashe kept her faith and had me on stand by. When the rain finally stopped, we were left with less than an hour to set everything up and shoot. The team were amazing and we managed to pull it off in the last light of the day.
I count myself lucky to have been a part of this shoot and love how Tinashe’s vision came to life. I hope this will serve as an inspiration for many brides, African or other. And if you’re planning an outdoor wedding with this kind of set up, please head straight to my contact page and let me know all about it. I’d be thrilled to photograph it.
